FORMAT
There are five rounds.

All games in the Under 2200 and Under 1900 section are FIDE rated and graded by the ECF for the national grading database
Unrated players in these sections should be Under 200 ECF (U2200), or Under 160 (U1900), or the national equivalent. Swiss format tournaments, not knockouts.  If you are English you must be an ECF Gold member to take part.

Games in the Under 120 section are graded by the ECF.  Anyone can play in this tournament if they are graded under 120 ECF, or the equivalent.  Entrants who are ECF members at Silver or above can claim a £6.00 discount on their entry fee.  Bexhill Chess Club and Hastings Chess Club members can also claim an additional £5.00 discount on their entry fee.
BYES: if you cannot make a round (some people like to get an early night on Saturday) you can ask for one half-point bye in advance by informing the arbiter. Not available in the final round!

TIME CONTROL (all tournaments)
Digital clocks and Fischer / cumulative time controls will be used. All moves in 60 minutes per player PLUS 30 seconds per move (roughly a 3.0 hour session).  Exceptionally, where digital clocks are not available we will use the time control of all the moves in 90 minutes per player.

PRIZES IN EACH SECTION

U2200 and U1900: 1st £150, 2nd £80 - these prizes will be shared in the event of a tie.

In each of these two sections there will be AT LEAST one rating prize the rating band for which will be announced before the start of round two, based on the ratings of the players entered. Ties (if necessary) for rating prizes will be awarded to the lowest rated player, and then shared if still tied.

UNDER 120: 1st + 2nd plus a grading prize, based on entries.

Here is a short guide to making your visit to my events as enjoyable as possible.  No player may win more than one prize. The Organisers decision is final in all matters. The organiser reserves the right to refuse any entry without explanation.
